Country Ventures began in 2008 as a project of Valley Land Alliance, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization which has a mission to educate to save farmland.
Country Ventures Mission is to protect and promote awareness Merced County agriculture, art and nature assets by developing a vibrant tourism industry and its vision is to protect Merced County agriculture and open space by developing tourism which sustains our environment and agriculture foundation.
Valley Land Alliance continues to sponsor Country Ventures though projects such as county map development. Additionally, with the financial support of California Women for Agriculture, development of crop signs and two audio tours for people to enjoy and learn about the county's agriculture and open space history.
We have recently printed our 3rd generation map of interesting places to visit in Merced County and joined forces with Ag Link Connect for an interactive online portal where you can learn more about Merced County's Ag Tourism Venues and Events.
Annual events you won't want to miss include: Art Hop in Downtown Merced, Trout Fishing Derby at Lake McSwain, Livingston Kite Festival, Open Cockpit Day at Castle Air Museum, Pick and Gather at Riverdance Farms, Merced County Fair, Merced Shakespeare Festival, Livingston Sweet Potato Festival, Turkey Trot Run at Applegate Park, Hilmar Cheese Holiday Extravaganza.
